Revolutionizing Fragrance Diffusion: The No48 by Omecara

Blending Art and Aromas: A New Take on Fragrance Diffusers

Omecara's No48, a fragrance diffuser designed by Nicolas Boon and Tatiana Garcia, is a harmonious blend of art and aroma. Inspired by the synthesis of ambergris and yellow amber, this design breaks away from traditional fragrance diffusers, offering a unique sensory experience.

Omecara's No48 is a striking departure from the conventional image of fragrance diffusers. The design, inspired by the synthesis of ambergris and yellow amber, evokes the image of a polished pebble found by the sea. The delicate abstract form embodies the duality of solid and liquid, land and sea. The choice of gold color further enhances the design, symbolizing the color of amber and the symbolic value of ambergris. The minimalist typographic composition, reminiscent of a Zen garden, adds to the feeling of lightness and relaxation.

The No48 fragrance diffuser stands out with its unique properties. It combines style and discretion, diffusing an intense amber fragrance through a single black wooden stick. The design is characterized by the number 48, where the masculine square 4 and the feminine rounded 8 complement each other. The typographic treatment, along with the golden hot stamping in the same shade as the perfume, delicately combines the container and content, creating a sensation of restful lightness.

The design was realized using black screen printing on glass and paper. The paper used is Colorplan white frost paper 350 g/m2, with intense black offset printing and Luxor 232 MP hot stamping, and a protective varnish. The design specifications include a limited edition packaging with dimensions of Width 80mm x Depth 80mm x Height 210mm, and a bottle of Width 75mm x Depth 75mm x Height 115 mm, containing 250ml of fragrance.

The design embodies duality, elegance, minimalism, harmony, delicacy, and the balance of feminine and masculine elements. The golden shape embraces the edge of the packaging in a balanced way, creating a harmonious scenography when presented side by side. The chromatic harmony of gold, intense black, and white creates a soothing and precise composition.

The design project was completed in November 2020 in Luxembourg. The Omecara studio synthesized two natural elements mysteriously linked by their names: ambergris, an animal raw material used in perfumery, and yellow amber, an ornamental resin. The project's relevance stems from a play between opposites: land/sea, masculine/feminine, square/round, solid/liquid, container/content, black/white.

The No48 fragrance diffuser faced several design challenges. The opposites had to be harmoniously combined within the same composition. The precision of the gold hot stamping on the edge of the packaging demanded a high degree of technical skill. The packaging had to reflect a certain level of sophistication while being extremely simple. Despite these challenges, the design was successful and was awarded Silver in A' Packaging Design Award in 2022.
